Can we reboot 2021? We can, can’t we?

What a week. I live in DC and been hunkered down at home all week. When I first came to DC over thirty years ago, I worked on Capitol Hill. One of my tasks (pre-internet) was to deliver print copies of press releases to the press gallery that were on the top floors of the Capitol building itself. I know those halls very well and am heartsick and so saddened (and sometimes angry) about the events this past week.

Aromatherapy is the very best way I know to shift feelings and emotions. And I developed this blend to boost calmness, harmony, connection and counteract emotional trauma. There’s also a dash of an aroma that supports change, too.

The first new moon of 2021 is this coming week on January 13th. This phase of the moon is when we begin our journey anew for the month. (Seems like a good excuse to restart!) I don’t know about you, but I’ve been wanting a reboot nearly every week, if not day over the last few months. But a new moon offers true possibility to start again.

When we are in darkness – during these times or during the new moon, we look to the wisdom within us to figure out the path forward. Take some time to reflect on where you wish to steer your life, how you can connect to the rhythms of nature, and what hidden riches can you uncover. Obviously, the start of a new year is a good time to do this too.

We are all getting off to a slow, I may even sluggish, start. I haven’t picked my word of the year yet. (I love this two part podcast from the School of Self Image for guidance. Tonya Leigh takes you through the process step-by-step. Here is part 1 and here is part 2.)

So embrace newness. Yes, we are confronted with an onslaught of new circumstances, new fears and new uncertainties about the future. Still that also means we are in a time of new perspectives, new opportunities and new ways of being and moving in the world!

Blend up this mix of aromatherapy. Pull out your journal and ask yourself some of these questions to set fresh intentions for this fresh start ::

1 | What does your perfect day look like?

2 | What makes you laugh?

3 | What is one habit you could adopt that would improve other aspects of your life?

4 | How do you feel in your body? (And what could you do to feel better?)

5 | What is a new meal or dish you could make to nourish yourself?

6 | When was the last time you indulged in a hobby?

7 | Do you feel rested? How could you cultivate more rest?

8 | How can you give back to others? How can you support another?

9 | What do you want to feel more of?

10 | What is abundant in your life that you appreciate and want more of?




Hawaiian Sandalwood

Hawaiian Sandalwood has a rich, sweet, woody aroma that instills calmness and well-being. The aroma can help you feel grounded and rooted which can encourage surrender and humility. When you’re feeling empty and unnerved with runaway worries, this oil supports feelings of clarity and acceptance.


Cinnamon

Patchouli

Patchouli helps us also be fully present in our bodies. The aroma promotes feelings of confidence and connection. With this aromatherapy, we can experience a sense of grounding and stability. Patchouli also assists us by calming fear and nervousness during times of difficulty.


Rosemary

Rosemary helps us know ourselves deeply and truly. The aroma offers mental clarity and opens us open to knowledge and insights. And can make us ready for new experiences, new perspectives and new insights. Rosemary especially supports us during transitions and times of change or when we wish to change our habits.


Ylang Ylang

the oil of the inner child

Ylang Ylang is used to lessen tension and stress and to promote a positive outlook. The aroma encourages play and restore a childlike nature and innocence and can help ameliorate feelings of anger and sadness. Ylang Ylang also helps with emotional healing and to encourage feelings of freedom. This essential oil can also be a powerful remedy for releasing emotional trauma.
