Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT™)
The International Association of Yoga Therapy yoga therapist certification—the “C-IAYT”—is an important professional credential for yoga therapy practitioners, and a significant indication of professional attainment. IAYT has developed the C-IAYT credential and its associated service mark so that the public, healthcare practitioners, healthcare organizations, governmental agencies, and other individuals and entities can readily identify yoga therapists who have attained the prestigious C-IAYT status. And I am proud to have been certified in its first year in 2017 and re-certified in 2020. As a certified yoga therapist I also have agreed to follow a defined scope of practice and a code of professional ethics. As a C-IAYT I get their International Journal of Yoga Therapy, a scholarly peer-reviewed journal, and Yoga Therapy Today, a clinical practice magazine to stay abreast of the latest research.
Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT™)
I’ve been a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance since I started teaching yoga back in 2003. The Yoga Alliance credentials are globally recognized and represent high quality, safe, accessible, and equitable yoga teaching in communities around the world. As a member, I share a collective Ethical Commitment that includes a Code of Conduct, a Scope of Practice, and an awareness of and responsibility to equity in yoga to strive to build a community for all. I also have access to additional yoga tools and resources.
